In many ways, she reflects the same emotional intelligence and steadiness the Girl later shows. Both women carry a deep capacity for understanding, yet both eventually reach a breaking point when their love stops being enough. The Mother’s presence lingers as an unspoken echo throughout the film, her resilience shaping the Boy’s fear of loss and his instinct to shut down when faced with vulnerability.
